James Franco addresses relationship with Seth Rogan

Actor James Franco admits he’s still estranged from his longtime friend and collaborator Seth Rogan, but “not for a lack of trying” on his part.

“No. I haven’t spoken to Seth,” Franco told Variety while promoting his latest film “Hey Joe” at the Rome Film Festival. “I love Seth, we’ve had 20 great years together, but I think it’s is over. And not for lack of trying. I told him how much he means to me.”

Still, Franco isn’t crying foul about being “cancelled” by Rogan or the rest of Hollywood.

“I mean, it is what it is. I honestly passed it by,” Franco said. ”(The legal issues were) dealt with, and I had to change. So that’s it, it’s over.”

Franco and Rogan worked together on several projects during their decades in Hollywood, including the TV series ‘Freaks And Geeks’ and films such as ‘Pineapple Express’ and ‘The Interview’. But Franco’s career took a nosedive in 2021 amid allegations that he engaged in sexual misconduct with two students in his acting class.

Franco agreed to pay $2.2 million to settle the resulting lawsuit, but the allegations put a damper on his relationship with Rogan. In 2018, in the immediate aftermath of the allegations, Rogen had said he would stay with Franco, but in 2021 he said he was no longer working with his friend.

“The truth is, I haven’t done that and I don’t intend to at this point,” Rogen told the Sunday Times.

In that interview, he admitted that the accusations against Franco had affected their friendship, but he also refused outright to say the relationship was over.

“I don’t know if I can define that now during this interview. I can say it changed a lot of things in our relationship and our dynamic,” Rogan said.
