Cameron Diaz is coming out of an eleven-year acting retirement with a new Netflix spy movie titled Jamie Foxx Back in action. The streamer has released the first official teaser trailer for the film, which will be released early next year.

In 2022, Hypebeast reported on Diaz’s return to acting. Foxx had uploaded a phone conversation between himself and Diaz as they called Tom Brady to help her “retire.” The Back in action project was announced in mid-2022 and production began later that year. Now, two years later, the comedy thriller finally has a set release date.

The film follows Diaz as Foxx as they star as a retired CIA agent couple named Emily and Matt. Finding themselves in the suburbs also brings them back into the action, excited about returning to their roots. In the teaser trailer, Foxx can be seen burning hunchmen with a flamethrower, alongside a star-studded cast including Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson. Directed by Seth Gordon, who co-wrote the script with Brendan O’Brien. Back in action marks Diaz’s first film since her retirement in 2014.
