Jayden Daniels: That was a unique experience

There were no other games in progress when the Commanders lined up for their final offensive play against the Bears on Sunday, so there were plenty of people watching as Jayden Daniels’ final pass fell into the end zone.

However, Daniels was not one of them. After scrambling for more than 12 seconds to avoid pressure and give his receivers a chance to get downfield, he delivered a Hail Mary as time expired and had to listen to the reaction to know his pass was wide receiver Noah Brown found in the end zone for an improbable 18-15 win.

“I heard people screaming and our sideline rushed across the field. That is how I knew,” Daniels said, via John Keim of ESPN.com. “That’s a kind of ‘once in a lifetime’ experience. There aren’t many people who experience things like this.”

Daniels was questionable to play Sunday due to a rib injury and the Commanders were unable to put away the Bears despite having a number of chances to score touchdowns on conventional plays throughout the afternoon. It looked like this would lead to a painful loss when the Bears scored with 25 seconds left, but Daniels’ final throw left elation as the only emotion everyone rooting for the Commanders felt Sunday night.
