Jelly Roll Crashes Lainey Wilson’s Thanksgiving Cowboys Halftime Show

Lainey Wilson got a little help from her friend for her Thanksgiving halftime show during the Cowboys vs. Giants match, where she enlisted Jelly Roll to perform their hit duet “Save Me.”

The duet – which was at the top Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart for two weeks last year — was part of Wilson’s five-song set at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which began with “Heart Like a Truck.” Wilson strolled onto the field in an all-white outfit, complete with white cowboy hat and long white coat. She ditched the jacket as she took the stage for “Straight Up Sideways,” where she was joined by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for a dance number.

After ‘4x4xU’, Jelly Roll took the stage to loud cheers for ‘Save Me’. It was clear how comfortable the pair felt performing the over-year-old hit, as they confidently hit the vocal harmonies and delivered the song’s emotional message.

“The incredible Lainey Wilson!” Jelly Roll shouted as they wrapped the song and he left the stage to make way for Wilson’s final song, “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.”

In a 2023 interview with BillboardJelly Roll told the story behind the Whitsitt Chapel duet, explaining that he was really looking for something to save him from himself – and writing the song was part of that process. “I was in the middle of it. I knew the lifestyle I was living at the time was unsustainable,” he said. “I needed to make changes in my life, and it was my personal cry for help. Fortunately, I can now say that I have made many positive changes, but I am still a work in progress.”

Earlier in the day, Shaboozey headlined the halftime show for the Lions vs. Bears Thanksgiving faceoff at Ford Field in Detroit. Next up, the Packers will take on the Dolphins at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
