Jimmy John’s is replacing bread with a giant pickle

Quick-service sandwich chain Jimmy John’s is introducing two sandwiches where the bread is replaced by a giant dill pickle.

The Picklewiches will be available from October 28 through November 14 at all approximately 2,600 Jimmy John’s locations.

The Vito Picklewich has the same contents as the chain’s Vito sandwich: Salami, capocollo, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar and oregano basil, all in a giant kosher dill pickle. The price is comparable to a regular 8-inch Vito, which costs about $8 depending on location.

The Turkey Picklewich is comparably priced and is made with turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato.

In addition, the chain is bringing back its pickle-flavored chips. The Pickle Jimmy Chips cost about $1.79.

The new items come just weeks after Jimmy John’s a Cheddar Bourbon Clubmade with roast beef or turkey plus bacon, smoked cheddar cheese and a new creamy Sriracha bourbon sauce, plus lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise for about $10.39.

This summer, it introduced its first wrapsmade with a Mediterranean flavor profile including red pepper hummus, feta cheese, tapenade, oregano and basil, as well as Pita Jimmy Chips served with red pepper hummus.

The chain, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Inspire Brands, is promoting the Picklewiches on National Sandwich Day, Nov. 3, by offering them to loyalty program members at 50% off when purchasing a regular 8-inch sandwich.

Guests who order a sandwich after 2 p.m. can also make a combo at participating restaurants in the franchise system on that day and through December, with a regular drink and a bag of Jimmy Chips, at no extra cost.

That offer follows Complete meal packagewhich launched in August and offers a combo plus a cookie or brownie for $10.
