People have officially decided this year’s pick for the Sexiest Man Alive, and it’s John Krasinski.

The news was announced on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on November 12, with the 45-year-old actor appearing in the CBS studio.

“Look at him, I get it,” Colbert said after announcing the actor as the latest recipient of the title, congratulating him just as Krasinski surprised Colbert in the studio.

Krasinski, an actor, writer and director of films such as ‘A Quiet Place’, ‘If’ and more, is also married to actor Emily Blunt and father of two children: Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8.

“There was so much laughter on the other end of the line,” Krasinski told Colbert about the moment he told Blunt he would be named People’s 2024 Sexiest Man Alive, adding that actor Matt Damon was the only other person who he confided about the honor.

Last year, Patrick Dempsey was crowned People’s 2023 Sexiest Man Alive, telling the newspaper at the time that he was “completely shocked” to have won the award.

“I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life,” the actor said. “It’s nice to get the recognition, and my ego definitely gets a little bit of a boost, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”

In 2022, Chris Evans was named the pick for Sexiest Man Alive.

“My mom is going to be so happy,” Evans joked to People while reacting to the news. “She’s proud of everything I do, but this is something she can really brag about.”

The Sexiest Man Alive award dates back to 1985, when Mel Gibson was considered the very first celebrity to receive the title. Since then, winners have ranged from Patrick Swayze (1991) to Hugh Jackman (2008) and John Legend (2019).

Last year, the TODAY family received a pair of nominations from the People’s Readers’ Choice Poll. Al Roker and Craig Melvin received nominations for “Sexiest Grandpa” and “Sexiest Morning Show Host,” respectively.
