Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump

Voters in all fifty states and the District of Columbia will cast their ballots in the presidential battle between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump. Presidents are elected through the Electoral College, which allocates votes to each state based on the number of House and Senate members the state represents in Congress. A candidate needs at least 270 Electoral College votes to be elected president. Most states allocate all of their Electoral College votes to the winner of the state’s popular vote. Nebraska and Maine both allocate two votes from their Electoral College to the winner of the statewide popular vote, and then one to the winner in each congressional district. Trump’s pitch to voters focused on the economy, immigration and crime. Since taking over as Democratic standard-bearer after President Joe Biden resigned, Harris has argued she would usher in a new era and has campaigned on improving the healthcare economy, protecting abortion rights and safeguarding democracy.
