Kansas City acquires star WR in trade: report

Kansas City addressed one of its biggest roster needs.

The team is finalizing a deal with the Tennessee Titans to acquire wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday morning. The Titans would receive a fifth-round draft pick that could become a fourth-round pick.

Kansas City needs the position after losing Rashee Rice to a knee injury in Week 4, requiring surgery that will likely end his season. Marquis Brown has not played since suffering a shoulder injury during the preseason and JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered a hamstring injury against the San Francisco 49ers and has already been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hopkins has 15 catches for 173 yards this season on a team that has started Mason Rudolph and Will Levis at quarterback during the 2024 season. He had 75 catches for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. Hopkins, 32, is a five-time Pro Bowler who has reached at least 1,000 receiving yards seven times during his 12-year career.

Hopkins has had 943 receptions and scored 79 touchdowns in 174 games during his career.
