CLEVELAND — On Sunday, Dak Prescott saw his pockets grow deeper than a canyon on the surface of Mars. Just hours before the Dallas Cowboys took the field for their season opener against the Cleveland Browns, the All-Pro quarterback signed a historic NFL contract that landed with the thud of a meteor, and not long after CeeDee Lamb received one as well.

However, the Cowboys’ management has little peace, as one third of the trio still does not have a long-term contract, and that is world-famous pass rusher Micah Parsons – who is overjoyed with the contract Prescott has received.

“Goddammit, you know what I mean? Dak still owed me some money,” Parsons said with a big grin and a laugh, explaining his reaction when news of Prescott’s numbers came out (including $231 million fully guaranteed). “So I was like, I went up to him right before we got here, I was like, ‘I’ll never be broke,’ and we just laughed.”

The three-time All-Pro then dropped the jokes and spoke to Cowboys and NFL fans about his quarterback, but in a much more serious and purposeful tone.

“He didn’t cheat the game,” Parsons said of Prescott. “He earned everything he got. It’s his work, his dedication, his craftsmanship, everything he put into it. Good things happen when you don’t cheat the game. And I can say he’s played 100 percent since he’s been here.

“So when it comes to that guy, he’s not an undeserving guy.”

Parsons made it clear earlier this offseason that he has no interest in a new deal until Prescott and Lamb are dealt with.

Now that those are behind us, Parsons is still not changing course on his own conversations. For him, it’s all about food on the field, and if he continues to do that, as evidenced by his incredible opening game against the Browns, there’s no reason the Cowboys shouldn’t give him a shiny new plate of their own.

“I just have to keep doing what I’m doing,” he said. “Keep working, keep trying to be the best player I can be and try to win championships, and then they’ll probably throw something extra at me.”

Only… it will be anything but little.

He finished the Browns with nine pressures, one sack and a pass breakup that led to an interception for linebacker Eric Kendricks, who remains unhappy with the performance.

With such an attitude he ends up straight at the Brinks truck.
