Kelly Monaco will still appear on ‘General Hospital’ this week after a shocking hospital scene

Warning: This post contains spoilers from General Hospital

Kelly Monaco isn’t quite done with Sam McCall yet!

Two months after it was confirmed that Monaco was active in the popular soap General Hospital came to an end, her iconic character died on the October 30 episode of the show.

But it won’t be the last time viewers see her. PEOPLE can confirm that Monaco’s final performance will take place later this week.

In October, the actress broke her silence about her departure after 21 years General Hospital. In a now deleted response to a comment about Soap Hub’Writing on Instagram, it read: “What specifically do you have in mind, she wasn’t fired, she didn’t take the pay cut so she had to leave,” Monaco revealed why she thought she had been let go.

“’No primary role’…do your homework. When Billy Miller was fired, Sam’s storyline ended. Stripping Sam of all the characteristics she had,” she wrote. “Something I spent decades building… Slowly dismantling her, into a character I didn’t recognize, let alone the audience. Call it whatever you want… retaliation at its finest. I will make an appropriate statement. The truth will set you free.”

A few days earlier, on September 28, Monaco’s mother Carmina took to her Instagram to speak out about her daughter’s dismissal.

“I want to take this moment to reach out to Kelly’s incredible fans and express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering love, loyalty and support you have shown her throughout her time on General Hospital,” Carmina said. “On this final day, just four days before the anniversary of her first episode on October 1, 2003, Kelly will close the door to her dressing room for the final time.”

“This moment is difficult, but knowing that she has had such an incredible, dedicated fan base has given her strength,” she continued. “You have supported her at every turn, celebrating her achievements and providing comfort during the difficult times. Your love and dedication have meant more than words can express, not only to Kelly, but to all of us who care about her so deeply.”

It concluded: “Thank you for being there, for believing in her and for reminding her of the impact she made. We will always be grateful that you supported her through it all.”

As Monaco filmed her final scene on October 6, the actress reflected on her time on the soap.

“Last scene with the Davis girls,” she captioned a photo of herself on Instagram sitting with her costars. ” 😘🥲🙏🏻 I still don’t understand it.”

Monaco originated the role of Sam in 2003. Since then, she has appeared in more than 2,000 episodes of the popular ABC soap opera. In 2006, she earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the character.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC (check local listings).
