Knee injury prevents WR from winning Rams vs Lions

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua missed the entire second half of the team’s 26-20 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions on “Sunday Night Football” due to a knee injury.

Nacua limped off the field after making a sliding catch on a third-down play in the first half. He slowly got up and limped to the sideline before being examined by the coaching staff. The broadcast showed him attempting to run while the Lions were on offense. Nacua briefly returned to the field on the Rams’ next possession, but he was unable to continue and was ruled out at halftime.

After the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay said he had no additional information regarding Nacua’s injury.

Nacua missed much of training camp with a knee injury, but returned to practice on Aug. 26 and was listed as a full participant in practice in the days leading up to Week 1 — “He’ll be ready,” McVay said.

Last season, Nacua set rookie records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486) after being selected in the fifth round of the draft by BYU.
