Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters after the San Francisco 49ers earned a much-needed win over the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field and provided injury updates from the game.

Run back Jordan Mason left the game in the second quarter with a shoulder injury. He went to the locker room for X-rays, returned briefly in the third quarter, but soon left again and remained on the sidelines.

“Stay available in case of an emergency,” Shanahan said. “…He thought he was going to be okay. He went back in and it just hurt him too much, so he went outside, I think that was the first action, and then he was out (at the sideline) in case of an emergency.”

The 49ers will have more details on the severity of Mason’s injury on Friday after further testing.

Safety Malik Mustafa started in place of Talanoa Hufanga, who was placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury. Mustapha left the match in the second quarter and did not return. Shanahan said the team believes Mustapha suffered a low ankle sprain, which is less severe than a high ankle sprain.

After the game, Mustapha discussed his first career interception with reporters.

A 49ers kicker was injured for the second week in a row while attempting a tackle on a kickoff return. Last Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, Jake Moody suffered a high ankle sprain. His replacement was Thursday Matthew Wrightsuffered a shoulder injury.

Shanahan admitted he probably won’t challenge kickers to make tackles anymore.

“I don’t know how I feel about that anymore,” Shanahan said. “If they break through and they’re the only line left, I would never be the coach who says, ‘Let them score.’ But damn, that’s two weeks in a row…I just hope he’s okay.”

Tight end George Kittel appeared to be injured during the fourth quarter and briefly went to the locker room before returning to the game. When asked about the trip, Kittle responded lightly and evasively.

“I had to go to the bathroom,” he joked.

When asked if he was honest, Kittle replied, “I don’t know. Maybe. Yeah, who knows?’

Cornerback Charvarius districtwho suffered a knee injury against the Cardinals was listed as questionable. He was one of the 49ers’ seven inactive players against the Seahawks.

When asked how close Ward was to playing, Shanahan explained, “It was close enough to make a decision on playing time.” He went to practice (in the pre-game), and it was close, but he couldn’t go. “

Plus, left guard Aaron Banks suffered leg cramps during the match and was replaced in the line-up by Spencer Burford.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan delivered troubling news Tuesday: Starting safety Talanoa Hufanga, who logged 91 percent of defensive snaps in Week 3 (his first game back from a torn ACL) will be sidelined for at least a month after his fracture. ..

San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason replaces the injured Christian McCaffrey. He is on pace for about 1,900 rushing yards this season, an average of nearly five yards per carry. However, there’s another stat that stands out: Mason has an NFL-leading 91 carries, and another 11…
