Lake Mary All-Stars defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 in the Little League World Series championship game

WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. – The Lake Mary All-Stars defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 on Sunday in the Little League World Series championship game.

Lake Mary entered the Little League World Series championship game with just one loss, while Chinese Taipei entered the tournament with an undefeated record.

Chinese Taipei got on the board first in the first inning after Hu Yen-Chun singled in a run.

Lake Mary left the bases loaded in the second inning, but was unable to take advantage and exited the inning scoreless.

Entering the fifth inning, Lake Mary had five hits, but they couldn’t get a single runner across the plate.

Chris Chikodroff singled in the fifth inning, but Lake Mary couldn’t gain momentum and ended the inning 0-0, with a runner in scoring position.

In the sixth inning, Lake Mary needed one run to tie and two runs to win.

Lake Mary’s Chase Anderson reached on a hit by a pitch before Landon Bono walked. DJ Mieses stepped to the plate with runners on first and second and had a single to score a run and tie the game.

Because no more points could be scored, an extension was requested at the LLWS for the first time since 2007.

Chinese Taipei got two runners on base quickly in the seventh inning by Lake Mary pitcher Lathan Norton, but could not get anyone else on base.

In the seventh inning, batter Liam Morrisey struck out, bringing up Luis Calo, who walked. The next batter, Teraj Alexander, also struck out. Chris Chikodroff then doubled to bring a runner to third.

Lake Mary’s Lathan Norton then struck out, leaving two batters in scoring position.

According to LLWS rules, the offense began in the eighth inning with a runner on second base, but Chinese Taipei failed to score any runs.

In the eighth inning, Lake Mary hit a bunt, but Chinese Taipei threw the ball over his teammate on first base, allowing Florida, who was on second base, to score the winning run.

On Saturday, Lake Mary won the national championship by defeating Boerne, Texas.
