Lamar Jackson does impossible with wizard-like Ravens run

At this point, Lamar Jackson could do anything with his feet on the football field.

Because on Thursday night in the third quarter in Baltimore, he instantly turned a play that seemed dead into a near touchdown in a play that ultimately helped the Ravens win a 35-34 thriller over the rival Bengals.

Jackson threw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, and the Ravens held off Cincinnati with a two-point conversion with 38 seconds left to secure the victory.

The Ravens came back from trailing 21-7 in the third quarter and overcame a huge play from Cincinnati receiver Ja’Marr Chase, and the comeback began thanks to Jackson’s impressive run.

With a third-and-9 on the Bengals’ 11-yard line, the Ravens quarterback pulled the trigger and scrambled to his right.

And then backtracked a bit.

And then some more.

In all, he was chased by three Bengals defenders all the way back to around the 32-yard line.

But at that moment, Jackson took off forward along the near sideline, tiptoeing to stay in bounds and avoid the Bengals linebackers and secondary.

He then made a quick move to the middle of the field, getting the first down and nearly getting a touchdown before being tackled at the 1-yard line.

“I’m just trying to make something happen. That’s it,” Jackson said. “I wanted to throw the ball away, but when I turned around I had space.”

Officially it was only a 10-yard gain, but according to Next Gen Stats he gained a total of 58.1 yards while running with his feet.

It was an incredible play and it set up a Derrick Henry touchdown on the next play, cutting the Bengals’ lead to 21-15.

“It starts with Lamar and often ends with Lamar,” Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said. “But between Lamar and Lamar, there are a lot of great players surrounding him. I think that’s where our offense is right now.”

Jackson capped off the strong night with 290 passing yards, four touchdowns (no interceptions) and 33 rushing yards in a big AFC North win.
