Lamar Jackson named Pro Football Network MVP at midseason

Baltimore is 7-3 and went to Pittsburgh for a monster game against the Steelers (7-2) for first place in the AFC North. With ten games played, we’re halfway through the NFL season, and Baltimore is ready to win the postseason awards.

The Ravens’ two biggest stars headlined Pro Football Network’s Midseason Awards, with Jackson winning the MVP and Derrick Henry being named their Offensive Player of the Year.

Lamar Jackson –MVP

Lamar Jackson is the best regular-season quarterback of this decade and perhaps the NFL’s best since Peyton Manning. While there are valid criticisms of his performance in the playoffs (Jackson is 2-4 with as many touchdowns as interceptions), the Baltimore Ravens QB is simply unstoppable from September through January.

That standard continued into 2024, which is why he was the midseason runaway MVP among PFN’s panel of experts.

This is a year where it doesn’t matter whether your criteria for MVP is the best player in the league or the most valuable to his team.

Derrick Henry – Offensive Player of the Year

At 30 years old, Derrick Henry might be the best version of Derrick Henry we’ve ever seen.

Sure, the Baltimore Ravens’ ageless running back was the NFL’s best non-quarterback skill position player in 2024.

That’s why he’s a worthy winner of PFN’s 2024 Midseason Offensive Player of the Year award.

Henry’s statistics defy logic, regardless of age.

Jackson leads the NFL in touchdown passes (24), touchdown percentage (8.3%), yards per attempt (9.3), adjusted yards per attempt (10.6), passer rating (123.2) and QBR (76.9) .

Henry gets better with age.

Through ten games in 2024, the Ravens star leads the NFL in carries (184), rushing yards (1,120), yards per carry (6.1), rushing touchdowns (12), scrimmage yards (1,216) and offensive touchdowns (14) .
