Lamar Jackson: We need to stop beating ourselves

Quarterback Lamar Jackson said this week that he doesn’t know why the Ravens struggled against the Steelers during his time in Baltimore, but the answer wasn’t difficult to give on Sunday.

Self-inflicted wounds caused the Ravens to suffer an 18-16 loss in Pittsburgh. Derrick Henry lost a fumble on the second play of the game and tight end Isaiah Likely was stripped by former teammate Patrick Queen just before halftime to set up a pair of Steelers field goals. Jackson was picked off by linebacker Logan Wilson when Wilson ripped the ball out of Justice Hill’s hands, kicker Justin Tucker missed two field goals, the team wiped out productive plays with some of their twelve penalties and Jackson completed only 16 of 33 passes. during the afternoon.

Jackson made it clear after the game that the team’s sloppiness is a common thread through the recent losses.

“Absolutely. I think it’s been that way since last year,” Jackson said at his post-game press conference. “If we go back to the AFC Championship Game, we committed suicide. Chiefs game – the opener – committed suicide. Robbers, we killed ourselves, and the same today. We can’t beat ourselves in these kinds of games. We have to find a way to solve that.”

Sunday’s loss puts the Steelers in control of the AFC North heading into Week 12 and the Ravens can’t afford to give away too many more games if they want to have a shot at claiming the division crown for themselves.
