Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta left the team’s win over the Houston Texans on Sunday night due to a shoulder injury.

The second-year tight end made a big catch to get the Lions in scoring position in the third quarter, but slammed the turf while coming down with the grab.

The Lions took advantage of the hard catch, with running back David Montgomery driving the ball in to erase a large Texans lead and make it 23-13.

Although LaPorta did not appear to grab his shoulder or go down after the goal, the team announced on social media shortly afterward that he is questionable to return. According to the NBC broadcast, LaPorta was inside the blue tent being evaluated for about 10 minutes.

LaPorta didn’t seem to be coming back for the rest of the game as the Lions mounted a huge comeback to defeat the Texans 26-23.

In the locker room after the game, LaPorta didn’t use his injured shoulder much, but said an X-ray revealed “nothing major.”

The Lions also announced on social media that Kalif Raymond is questionable due to cramps, although the Swiss Army Knife lined up a punt to start the fourth quarter.

The Lions are already without left tackle Taylor Decker, who hurt his shoulder in practice, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle) and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury.

The Lions traded for defensive end Za’Darius Smith on Tuesday to add reinforcements to the defensive line after Aidan Hutchinson broke his leg, Marcus Davenport tore his pectoral muscle and Derrick Barnes went to IR with a knee injury. Smith was not in the lineup on Sunday as the Lions wanted to give him time to rest and his intended bye week after leaving the Browns.
