League Pass Game of the Day: Jazz at Lakers (10:30 ET)

Anthony Davis has remained an absolute force for the Lakers this season, averaging 31.1 points per game.

Unless you’re a fan of one of the teams in action earlier in the evening, all basketball-loving eyes will likely be on the nationally televised game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. Yes, you should absolutely watch that match. But what’s the basketball diehard to do when the final buzzer sounds? Well, you can fire up League Pass and see the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Lakers face off. Here are five things you need to know to prepare for this game.

1. Will the Lakers keep their win streak going?: Clearly, the Cavaliers’ winning streak – 15 and counting – is the talk of the town. However, the Lakers have won five in a row. That said, any NBA team can win on any given night. If Los Angeles wins on Tuesday, it will be its 10th victory overall in what has been a strong start to the season.

2. Undefeated in Los Angeles: Lakers fans have yet to experience a disappointing day in the home arena. The team is 6-0 at home, so in addition to competing for a sixth straight win, it will also be competing to remain undefeated at home.

3. Positive points for jazz: Utah is 3-10 as the team rebuilds and reforms. Still, there are interesting things for basketball diehards to take away from each team. John Collins appears to be getting more comfortable in his second season with the Jazz. He leads the team with 17.5 points per game and also averages 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Keyonte George has taken over as Utah’s starting point guard in his second season and has averaged 14.7 points and 5.5 assists per game. Walker Kessler stepped up on defense, though he has missed four games with a hip problem and may not return for that.

4. The Lakers’ dynamic duo delivers: As a team, Los Angeles is built around Anthony Davis and LeBron James, two future Hall of Famers. The Lakers go as Davis and James go, and they were both great. Davis is not just having a 20-and-10 season, but a 30-and-10 season, and he’s averaging 2.0 blocks per game. James, on the other hand, is coming for Russell Westbrook territory. He recently had four straight triple-doubles and isn’t that far away from averaging a triple-double.

5. The third man for the Lakers: Obviously the sixth man gets a lot of love in the NBA, but for a team built around two superstars of the game, the focus turns to who outside of that duo contributes the most. In this case that would be Austin Reaves. He is the only Laker other than James to have appeared in all thirteen games this season. He is third in points with 18.0 per game and second in assists with 5.5 per game. No one else in the team has averaged more than 12.7 per game, so Reaves’ scoring has proven important in this good start for his side.
