Lee Corso Predicts College Football Playoff Final Four, National Championship

Ahead of the first Saturday of the college football season, ESPN College GameDay host Lee Corso has his final preseason predictions for the first-ever 12-team game. College American Football Playoffs.

Corso, who is entering his 38th year on ESPN College Gameday, found himself in the final four of Georgia, State of Ohio, Texas And Notre Dame with the Bulldogs and Longhorns advancing to the national title game. He ultimately decided that Texas would win the national championship this year.

Corso also predicted that there will be no undefeated teams during the 2024 season, suggesting that there will be more balance across the board. This is a bold prediction considering the winner of the College Football Playoff has been undefeated in five of the last six years, including 15-0 seasons by Georgia in 2022 and Michigan in 2023. According to Corso, no team with three losses will make the play-offs.

He didn’t stop there – because Corso ended up choosing Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel to win the Heisman Trophy. While the longtime college football coach didn’t project the Ducks to finish in the CFP final four, he expects big things from Dan Lanning’s offense in his third year leading the program.

His co-host, Kirk Herbstreit, said they will revisit those choices in December.

Those are some of his long-term picks for the season. For Week 1, he made the following predictions: Penn State about West Virginia, Miami about Florida And LSU about USC.

For Corso, he recently celebrated his 89th birthday last month. Health issues limited his appearances on ESPN College GameDay last season, so it’s a good sign that he’ll be around for Week 1 of the 2024 college football season.

In May, Corso was in “great spirits” for a new college football season, according to ESPN’s Rece Davis. “We’re going to be in our 29th season together this fall (College GameDay).I am so grateful for the lessons on the radio, the incredible memories, but most of all for the fact that you as a friend have a warm heart for me!

Corso has been with the College GameDay crew since 1987 and over the years has become one of the iconic figures in the sport for college football fans. In 1993, the program began traveling from location to location across the country. In 1996, he began his tradition of wearing the mascot headgear for his picks of the week.

Before becoming an analyst for ESPN, Corso was a coach, with stops as head man at Louisville, IndianaAnd Northern IllinoisHe was also an assistant at Navy And Maryland once his playing career at State of Florida came to an end.
