Letters: Dodgers finally get clutch performance in the playoffs

As Dodgers fans, our fears of nonexistent hitting and flat pitching that have plagued too many Dodgers postseasons were finally put to rest by eliminating the San Diego Padres. And to our pleasant surprise, not only did the Dodgers bats come alive when needed most, but who would have thought that a meager pitching rotation and an as-yet unproven bullpen in postseason play could create a top-five hitting line- up completely? for 24 consecutive innings!

Both were welcome signs that catapulted the Dodgers into a deeper playoff run than previous seasons. Continue!

Now that we’ve finally gotten rid of the pesky Padres, our Dodgers can now set their sights on the Mets, who were the surprise of the playoffs. Against all odds, Wednesday night’s combined shutout of a strong Padres team was an incredible performance by the Dodger bullpen and a masterstroke by manager Dave Roberts.

If our season ultimately ends in disappointment and anyone’s head needs to be rolled, it should be Andrew Friedman’s, because he’s thrown hundreds of millions of dollars at vulnerable pitchers who can’t go the distance and oversees a pitching program that blows out way too many young, promising guns!
