According to multiple reports, former One Direction singer Liam Payne has died in Argentina.

La Nación, a national newspaper in Argentina, was the first to report the news, claiming that the 31-year-old British singer had fallen from the third floor of a hotel he was staying in Buenos Aires. ABC News confirmed the report, citing local police. Yahoo Entertainment has contacted a representative for Payne for comment.

According to the Associated Press, Alberto Crescenti, head of the state’s emergency medical system, told a local news outlet that Payne was found dead in the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel. Officials have not confirmed whether he fell or jumped. TMZ claims multiple witnesses saw the incident.

Payne was photographed supporting his former bandmate Niall Horan during his Oct. 2 show in Argentina. Videos have surfaced in recent days showing Payne still in the country.

In 2010, Payne achieved superstardom in Britain The X factor when he joined the boy band One Direction. The band also included Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Horan. The band broke up in 2015.

Payne shares one child, a seven-year-old son, with singer Cheryl Cole.
