Liam Payne‘s music career seemingly hit the skids when his record label dropped him just days before he died.

One of the last people to speak to him before his fatal fall recalled being angry after reading an email in which he shouted, “F-ck that sh-t, buddy!”

The hotel guest also confirmed reports that Liam Payne was taking drugs because he was behaving erratically at the hotel before his death.

It turns out that the “Midnight Hour” singer suffered a career setback just days before he fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to the Daily Mail, Payne’s record label, Universal Music, dropped him just days before the tragic incident.

Payne was originally signed to Sony as part of his former boy band One Direction, but in July 2016 signed a new deal with Capitol Records, an outfit owned by Universal, where he duly continued his solo career.

He was said to be “excited” when he signed the deal, but he was reportedly fired following the company’s recent reshuffle.

A fellow hotel guest talked about her encounter with the late singer, recalling him responding angrily to an email.

According to the Daily Mail, a woman who identified herself as Rebecca revealed that she saw him hanging out in the hotel lobby with his laptop open, wearing a white vest, cargo pants and sneakers, and that he responded angrily to an email.

She was particularly concerned because he seemed to have turned on the accessibility feature for disabled users, so he was notified of the cursor’s movements on the screen.

“I have a blind relative and I realized that for some reason he had the laptop on accessibility setting so that every time he moved the mouse and hovered over something, the machine spoke out loud to tell him where the cursor was” , Rebecca explained.

She continued, “I assumed he did that for the attention too. Then he opened his emails and saw one that clearly upset him. Suddenly he grabbed the computer and shouted, “F-ck this sh-t mate!” and started hitting the computer on the floor.”

The singer turned out to be using drugs

Rebecca’s account of her encounter with the “LP1” singer seemingly confirmed previous reports that he was under the influence of drugs.

She explained that Payne’s behavior of slamming his laptop on the floor concerned fellow guests and hotel staff and that she went over to ask him, “Are you okay?” but “he just kind of growled” and said he was “so confused” because he “used to be in a boy band.”

Rebecca then claimed that a British man named Roger, who was with Payne, came over to apologize for his behavior, saying, “I’m sorry, he gets so high sometimes.”

“I wondered what these people were doing with him to help him, but maybe they had tried and failed. The hotel staff panicked and looked at him very nervously. I could see one of them was on the phone with what I thought was it. security or the police,” she said.

The hotel guest noted that she was trying to figure out why he was hanging around the lobby, as she suspected he was planning to meet someone to supply him with his drugs. He reportedly returned to the lobby, where he “stumbled and fell flat on his face, sprawled across the floor.”

“The staff came to help him and get him back in the elevator, and then I took the last photo,” she said, referring to a photo she shared with the news station. “You can just see the arm of the English man who was with him, who held the lift door open before taking them back to the third floor.”

Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, left him in Buenos Aires two days before his death. The pair had arrived in the Argentine capital earlier this month to attend his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan’s concert.

They were only supposed to stay for five days, but ended up staying for two weeks, after which she apparently became homesick and decided to leave on October 14, two days before he died.

“I was so ready to leave,” Cassidy said in a TikTok video. ‘Honestly, I love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long. And we were supposed to stay there for five days, but that turned into two weeks.”

Although she developed a “weird rash” before her flight due to her “anxiety,” Cassidy added that she was “so happy to be home,” and “it was so relieving.”

The cause of the singer’s death

Payne died at the scene after his fall and reportedly suffered life-changing injuries, including a skull fracture.

Buenos Aires emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti announced that Payne suffered a “cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.”

He also told TN Television that Payne was dead when paramedics arrived at 5pm local time, adding: “Our role was to get there quickly, provide medical aid and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life.”
