What else did the investigation include?

As the State Attorney’s Office noted in its November 7 press release, “exhaustive and painstaking actions and measures were taken to clarify the circumstances surrounding Payne’s death.

These included, the publication continued, “several dozen testimonials” from hotel employees, family, friends, medical professionals, biochemists and psychiatrists. In addition, the release added, a “detailed analysis was conducted of more than 800 hours of video footage from various security cameras at the hotel and others located on public streets.”

But that’s not all. “The forensic extraction of the contents of the deceased musician’s mobile phone was also carried out,” the release said. “From this, his calls, messages, chats on messaging applications and social networks were analyzed.”

In addition, the release said that “several gigabytes of data were obtained and examined from other cellphones, such as those of the hotel reception and those of witnesses who volunteered to corroborate their statements.”

Other information investigated, the release added, included “a review of guests and orders at the hotel bar/restaurant” to see who visited Payne and what they ate and drank.

In addition, the Public Prosecution Service said that “nine searches had been carried out” in Buenos Aires.

However, the November 7 publication noted that “the investigation must continue as, among other things, the unlocking of the victim’s personal netbook – which is broken – and other devices seized during the investigation are still ongoing are.”
