Jake Paul started his boxing career in 2018, taking on fellow YouTubers in celebrity fights. Now, his journey into combat sports will culminate in the biggest fight of his career, as he takes on Hall of Fame boxer, Mike Tyson, on Friday at AT&T Stadium.

The fight is sanctioned as a professional bout, Tyson’s first since a loss to Kevin McBride in 2005, although he most recently fought against Roy Jones Jr. in a 2020 exhibition. Paul most recently fought in July, scoring a sixth-round technical knockout over former UFC fighter Mike Perry, his second knockout win of the year.

“I fear no man. So I want him to be that old savage Mike. He says he’s going to kill me. I’m ready. I want that killer,” Paul said Wednesday. “I want the hardest match possible Friday night and I want there to be no excuses from everyone at home when I knock him out.”

Barrios started strong, working behind the jab, and in Round 2 that work culminated in a knockdown as he landed a straight right hand clean to the chin of Ramos. Ramos survived the round and while he struggled to get past Barrios’ jab early, he’d turn the tide in the second half of the fight.

Ramos’ front footed pressure began to result in more meaningful connects as the fight continued and in Round 6, Ramos landed a huge straight right hand that sent Barrios to the canvas for the fourth time in his career. Ramos continued the effective pressure throughout the second half of the fight, drawing Barrios into a shootout.

In the end, the fighters couldn’t be separated after 12 rounds, a fair result after an exciting welterweight scrap.

Barrios is defending the WBC title for the first time since being elevated from interim champion, and while this is Ramos’ first world title fight, he’s a veteran at welterweight. Barrios lands a straight right that fazed Ramos, and while it looked like his glove dropped and touched the canvas, the referee rules no knockdown. Ramos on the front foot but that early shot from Barrios will keep him on edge.

Goyat is oulanding Nunes, 63-39, through three rounds. Early on Nunes leaves an opening throwing a handful of straight shots and Goyat capitalizes with a thudding right hook that connects clean. Nunes lands a few solid body shots throughout, but it doesn’t do much to dissuade Goyat from stepping to him.

Nunes has primarily been working behind the jab, but he doesn’t seem to have much power behind his punches. The same could be said for Goyat, but he’s connecting on more shots. Goyat has been targeting the body of Nunes, also finding some success with looping shots to Nunes’ head. Goyat in control through three.

Goyat having no trouble stepping inside and connecting, but his confidence has resulted in a few defensive lapses that have allowed Nunes to land. Goyat has become the aggressor now, letting his hands go at close range, landing often both up top and to the body of Nunes.

Goyat is Most Valuable Promotions’ first international signee and he takes on a Brazilian YouTuber turned amateur boxer in Nunes, who’s making his professional debut.
