Liverpool predicted line-up vs. RB Leipzig: UEFA Champions League

Liverpool are all set for the UEFA Champions League match against German side RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena, looking for a perfect start in Europe.

Arne Slot’s team has just completed a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League. Liverpool have passed perhaps the toughest test yet in the English top flight, with goals from club legend Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones sealing the three points at Anfield.

In Liverpool’s first two Champions League games, the team recorded a 3–1 win over AC Milan at San Siro, followed by a 2–0 home win against Bologna. One goal against the Reds is among the best defensive records after two games played, but it will be difficult to keep out Leipzig stars Xavi Simons, Loïs Openda and Benjamin Benjamin Šeško.

With starting goalkeeper Alisson recovering from a hamstring injury, Caoimhin Kelleher will start in goal, while Diogo Jota is also doubtful with an upper-body injury.

Here’s how the Reds could line up at Anfield in the Champions League.

GK: Caoimhin Kelleher—The Ireland international retains his place in goal, while Alisson remains out due to a hamstring problem. Kelleher has conceded just once in 180 minutes of Premier League action this season.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold—One of the most influential players in Liverpool’s squad starts at right-back and tries to settle into midfield to spray passes wide of his teammates.

CB: Ibrahima Konaté—The France international has rarely put a foot wrong alongside Van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s defense this season.

CB: Virgil van Dijk—The 33-year-old continues to mature like a fine wine with solid performances in what could be his final season at Anfield.

LB: Andy RobertsonRobertson will be key to Liverpool’s success on the left by keeping Leipzig’s wingers at bay.

DM: Ryan Gravenberch—Slot has taken over his compatriots in Gravenberch and deployed him as a defensive midfielder in front of the back line.

DM: Alexis MacAllister—The former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder starts in the middle of the park next to Gravenberch.

RW: Mohamed Salah—The Egyptian winger looks set to increase his goal tally against Leipzig’s tough defense, adding to his legendary Liverpool career.

AM: Dominik Szoboszlai—Szoboszlai is still looking to recapture the form he had during his playing days in the Bundesliga when he takes on his former club.

LW: Luis Diaz—Díaz started the season in strong form but has fallen off in recent weeks as he looks to get back on the scoresheet.

ST: Darwin Nunez—The Uruguayan is in the lead, while Jota is unlikely to play after suffering an upper-body injury against Chelsea.
