A 27-year-old man is fighting for his life after being stabbed during a brawl on the Gold Coast, while a 65-year-old man also suffered a head injury.

The young man was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition from the scene of the accident on Prince St in Southport at around 9pm on Thursday.

He was stabbed in the back.

The other man was taken to hospital with a head wound that was not life-threatening.

The injuries were the result of what police described as a “disturbance involving a group of people.”

Three people are believed to have fled in a car and are being sought by the police.

The investigation is ongoing and police are hoping anyone who was driving in the Southport-Nerang Rd area around that time will come forward.
