Man Utd women’s player ratings vs Brighton: The winning streak is over! Ella Toone was suffocated as the spendthrift Red Devils chased Nikita Parris just a month after selling her

Marc Skinner’s United side lost their perfect record this season when England international Toone was surpassed by former teammate Parris

Manchester United’s 100 percent start in the Women’s Super League came to an end when they were held to a 1-1 draw by spirited Brighton.

The Red Devils, who had yet to concede a WSL goal this season, deservedly took the lead in the tenth minute when Celin Bizet’s teasing cross in the penalty area was stabbed home by Grace Clinton. The 21-year-old then hit the crossbar with a curling effort from just inside the penalty area, before Hinata Miyazawa’s rebound was denied by goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley.

But the visitors were made to pay for failing to capitalize on their lead as Maisie Symonds’ powerful drive towards goal was nodded in seven minutes after the break by Nikita Parris – who joined the Seagulls from United last month.

Brighton were the better team for a long time in the second half and almost won the match through former Chelsea star Fran Kirby, but goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce showed that there is life after Mary Earps. At the time of writing, both teams are at the top of the table in terms of goal difference.

GOAL rates the Manchester United players from the Amex, where a record crowd of more than 8,000 attended.
