Merging storms target the Northeast after dry spell: Here’s the forecast timing

According to AccuWeather.com, the current expected date of the system is Saturday, September 7. (See the first image above.)

According to AccuWeather, a coastal storm is expected to arrive in the region as the system moves northeast from the northern Plains.

Strong rip currents, beach erosion and rough surf are expected over a large area shown in red in the second image above.

“The weekend looks pretty wet from Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York east into New England,” said Tyler Roys, senior meteorologist with AccuWeather. “In addition to a 12-hour period of soggy weather, it’s not out of the question that this storm could bring some downpours.”

According to the National Weather Service, the days leading up to the stormy first half of the weekend will be characterized by blue skies and pleasant conditions.

After an autumnal start to the day on Tuesday, September 3, temperatures will rise to around 21 degrees.

On Wednesday 4 September and Thursday 4 September the temperatures will be around 25 degrees Celsius. On both days it will be sunny.

Friday September 5th will see a mix of sun and clouds, with a maximum temperature of around 25 to 27 degrees Celsius.

Clouds will increase Friday evening ahead of showers arriving Saturday morning. Thunderstorms are expected to arrive early in the afternoon and continue into the evening.

There is still uncertainty about the exact path and timing of the merger of the systems.
