Mets News: Mets announce lineup for Game 2 of NLCS

The Mets have announced their lineup for Game 2 of the NLCS against the Dodgers:

  1. Francisco Lindor SS
  2. Mark Vientos – 3B
  3. Brandon Nimmo-LF
  4. Piet Alonso – 1B
  5. Starling Marte – RF
  6. Jesse Winker-DH
  7. José Iglesias – 2B
  8. Tyrone Taylor CF
  9. Francisco Alvarez-C

SP: Sean Manaea

Eagle-eyed readers will notice that the lineup remains the same as the team had in Game 1, aside from Sean Manaea taking over the pitching reins from Kodai Senga. This may seem surprising considering the team scored three goals while being shut out in that loss, but this is, for the most part, the lineup that got the Mets to this point.

With the Dodgers using a bullpen game and starting things off with right-hander Ryan Brasier, Winker will remain there as the DH in place of J.D. Martinez. Considering how tough the Dodgers’ bullpen is — their lone lefty is former Met Anthony Banda — Winker’s inclusion in the lineup was a safe bet.

Jeff McNeil, who recorded an out in one at bat as a pinch hitter yesterday, remains out of the lineup after being placed on the NLCS roster. The Mets are cautious with the 2022 NL batting champion and bring him back into game situations.
