Mets outfielder makes sensational catch in NLCS, narrowly avoids nasty collision with teammate

The top of the second inning was filled with sloppy defense from the New York Mets, with the exception of Tyrone Taylor.

The midfielder made one of the wildest catches you will ever see, which could have been insanely disastrous.

New York had already let a run home as they couldn’t execute on weak contact – their first run of the game was scored before a ball was even hit into the outfield.

But Tommy Edman came so close to driving in two runs with a double, but Taylor saved the day.

Edman hit a ball into the right-center field gap that seemed destined to fall between Taylor and Starling Marte — the two outfielders were also on a crash course straight toward each other.

But Taylor somehow managed to make the diving catch, literally against Marte’s leg, and avoid any Mike Cameron-Carlo Beltran situation.

The runner on third base scored, resulting in an unfortunate sacrifice fly for Edman, and Taylor undoubtedly saved the runner on first base from being scored.
