Michigan State Spartans football at Oregon Ducks

Three-and-out for MSU, Ducks takeover

Nice decision by Chiles not to impose anything on a third and a million. A nice punt from Ryan Eckley and a new action from Spencer turn the field.

Oregon returns the favor; Spartans pick Dillon Gabriel

Even mention it! Fresh from forcing a turnover at their own one-yard line, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel throws an interception to the Spartan. Malik Spencer made a very athletic diving catch to secure the pick, and Michigan State takes over after the touchback.

Chileans fumble with the 1 and waste a golden scoring opportunity

This is getting ridiculous. Yet another drive where Michigan State marches the ball down the field ends with a turnover. This is a fumble by Aidan Chiles as he reached the end zone. The most frustrating thing for Spartan fans is how good Chiles looks too. Several great throws, including a deep bomb to Nick Marsh that put the Spartans within two, set up a scoring opportunity. But so far, a step forward has too often been followed by a step back to stay with the big boy teams.

Hello Defense!

Michigan State won the toss and gave the Ducks the ball. That turned out to be a good choice. The Spartans force a three and out and the offense has an early chance to take the lead.

Let’s get this party started

Nice surprise on this late night for Michiganders. Tigers announcer Jason Benetti is calling Eugene for Fox. 3-2 Spartans and 4-0 Ducks on deck.

The Spartans continue their schedule with a cross-country trip to take on undefeated and No. 6-ranked Oregon on the national stage.

After a 38-7 home loss to Ohio State, Michigan State faces another top-10 team, but this time it’s on the road. The Spartans moved the ball well against the Buckeyes and looked physically unbeatable for most of the evening, but costly turnovers and mistakes proved too much to keep up with Ohio State.

Those mistakes will have to be limited as the Spartans enter one of the most hostile environments in the country. However, Oregon has let opponents hang around in home games thus far. Needing a late score to dethrone FCS Idaho in Week 1, the Ducks only defeated Boise State of the Mountain West 37-34. Oregon has had a pair of dominant road performances over the past two weeks, with a 49-14 loss at Oregon State and a 34-13 victory over UCLA.
