The Commanders’ first touchdown today was caused by a botched fake punt by the Steelersbut Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said after the game he would call again.

Tomlin said he had to make the call and that he won’t hesitate to make that call again just because the pass fell incomplete.

“We’re not going to live in our fears, that’s not how we’re going to get out of it,” Tomlin said. “As for the fake punt, that’s on me, I own that, I would do it again, but we didn’t execute it, so it was a bad idea, but our guys fought, they didn’t blink an eye.”

The fake punt required a defensive back, Miles Killebrew, to throw to another defensive back, James Pierre. Killebrew got the ball to Pierre for what should have been an easy first down, but Pierre dropped the pass. That was costly for the Steelers, but in the end they won the game, and Tomlin is confident the Steelers’ approach today was the right one.
