The 4-2 Steelers will rotate from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson at quarterback tonight. If there was any doubt (and there shouldn’t have been), the decision was made by coach Mike Tomlin.

“I went to see Lone Ranger,” Tomlin told Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

This implies that others in the organization advocated for the status quo, and Tomlin decided to go it alone. That he has chosen to give the preseason QB1 his job back now that he is fully healthy. Even when QB2 won four out of six games.

Fields will also reportedly play. (We’ll see if that happened.) Still, the offense has been entrusted to the man who became the presumptive starter after the Broncos made it clear he would be cut. And Tomlin believed in Wilson, who may have a higher ceiling than Fields.

More importantly, Wilson has fur on the wall. Not many currently active quarterbacks do that. And Tomlin reminded Glazer that the goal here is to win a Super Bowl.
