During Thursday’s weigh-in before Friday’s hyped boxing fight in Arlington, Texas, Mike Tyson punched Jake Paul during their staredown.

The 27-year-old boxer and YouTuber crawled on his hands and knees towards the former heavyweight champion, before standing up inches away from Tyson, who immediately punched Paul in the face.

Tyson, 58, last competed in a sanctioned fight on June 5, 2005 and was TKO’d by Kevin McBride.

“I don’t have the courage to play this sport anymore,” Tyson said after that fight. “I don’t want to disrespect the sport I love. My heart doesn’t love this anymore. I’m sorry for the fans who paid for this.”

In the lead-up to this tilt, however, he has been singing a very different tune, ominously foreshadowing the return of his alter ego ‘Iron Mike’.

“I’m always careful when that guy comes out,” Tyson told Paul’s brother Logan on the ‘Impaulsive’ podcast on August 20. “Every time I drink or get ready to fight and Iron Mike returns, I break out of handcuffs. Unfortunately, I have to fight and be that guy. I wish I could stop that guy. That guy is chasing me. I wish I could stop that guy. I wish that guy would die, but he’s here again.”
