Mizzou Football responds: Beating Oklahoma still matters

There hasn’t been much action on the Mizzou Football front over the past two weeks. You know. Because of the bye week?

We spent much of that time debating where this season could potentially go for Mizzou and whether it still matters without a CFP offer on the table. We spent the rest of that time talking about the importance of Oklahoma’s long-lost rivalry.

Nate Hurst argued this week that OU is and always has been the biggest game on the schedule this year. But I’m not sure everyone agrees. So we put it to you: How important is Mizzou’s rivalry with Oklahoma, thirteen years after the last meeting?

You can see that there has been a bit of sentiment building over the last ten years. Many Mizzou fans who grew up in the late aughts, where Mizzou was actually competitive with the Sooners, see the Crimson and Cream as a standard to beat. Those who grew up with the early days of the SEC…maybe not so bad. It’s good to see that the majority of you are still invested in this historically important match, but I can’t blame those of you who struggle to see its relevance.

We also added a bonus question, as we always do. This one, and forgive my spin on a basketball metaphor, was a layup.

Like…obviously. No offense to, oh I don’t know, Sterling Webb. But Brady Cook could mean the difference between seven and 10 wins for the Tigers this year.
