MLB News: Aaron Judge delivers a strong message to Nestor Cortes after Game 1 loss to Dodgers

Aaron Judge and Nestor Cortes came close to securing a Game 1 victory in the 2024 World Series, with the Yankees leading several times throughout the game. However, they finally fell in the 10th inning due to a walk-off grand slam by Freddie Freeman.

After the tough loss, Judge stepped up to deliver a message of confidence and support to his teammate Nestor Cortes. who was one nil away from sealing the match before Freeman’s 400-foot home run to right field brought in Taylor, Edman and Betts to seal the Dodgers’ 6–3 victory.

“I have confidence in all our guys. It doesn’t matter who it is, whoever takes the mound. He knows he has work to do. I don’t want anyone else there on the hill,’ said Judge, who expressed his confidence in Cortes and all the Yankees pitchers who take the mound.

Cortes was sidelined for more than a month with an elbow injury and was recently called upon by manager Aaron Boone as a reliever for the World Series, as he was not yet ready to return as a starter.

Aaron Judge was asked in Game 1 tonight about his confidence in Nestor Cortes. “I have confidence in all our guys. It doesn’t matter who it is, any man that steps on the mound. He knows he has a job to do. I don’t want anyone else there on the hill.”

Does Cortes have post-season experience?

Game 1 against the Dodgers marked Cortes’ first appearance of the 2024 postseason. His previous postseason experience came in 2022 against the Cleveland Guardianswhen he started all three games he pitched, the Yankees lost two.

When did Nestor Cortes join the Yankees?
