The Bay watch cast is back and reflects on their time on the iconic series.

The stars reunite for the new ABC News Studios docuseries, After Baywatch: Moment in the Sunand revealed how their lives changed when they joined one of television’s most popular series, which ran from 1989 to 1999. To promote the new series (which premieres August 28), some of the stars opened up about what the docuseries meant to them in this exclusive featurette.

For David Chokachi, who played Cody Madison, “I look back and think, there really was no better job than Bay watch.” Alexandra Paul nods in agreement next to him.

“Baywatch is a fantasy,” says Nicole Eggert, who produced the documentary and played Summer Quinn on the show.

The camera then cuts to Traci Bingham and Carmen Electra on either side of Jeremy Jackson, who played David Hasselhoff’s child on the series. Jackson jokes, “Childhood memories finally manifesting,” as he hugs them and laughs.

Bay watch was a phenomenon during the 11 seasons the series ran. Creator Douglas Schwartz even reveals that the series had 1.2 billion viewers per week.

“That was the highest viewership of any program ever in the history of television,” he says.

The lifeguard rescue drama made headlines around the world and brought the cast extreme fame. Paul reflects on the pressures of the publicity and explains that she was grateful that her fellow actors were by her side at the time.

“I think when you’ve been on a number one show in the world, it’s such a unique experience that we’ve had,” she discusses with Chokachi. “So coming back together, we’re just bonded because of that, because of what we’ve been through — the good and the bad that came with that kind of fame.”

Erika Eleniak, who played Shauni McClain, agrees, saying that making the documentary 30 years later was a turning point.

“It was a great opportunity to be able to talk candidly about what was going on and how it was affecting our lives and careers on a personal level,” she says, sitting next to Billy Warlock.

On the other hand, Electra says she hopes nothing too crazy comes out of the behind-the-scenes clips that will be included in the docuseries. She hints, “I’ve heard there’s unseen footage, lost VHS tapes, so I’m a little concerned about that.”

Director and executive producer Matthew Felker recalls how much attention the stars received at the height of the series and says he understands why the cast feared public scrutiny.

“They were very reserved with the press because they had always been kind of slaughtered in the press,” he explains.

The docuseries gives the stars the chance to tell their own stories about its impact on pop culture and their lives.

The docuseries features archive footage of Pamela Anderson (who played CJ Parker) saying she can still remember where she was when she realized she was famous.

“We went to London to promote Bay watch and photographers fell backwards and down the stairs and I looked back and thought, ‘who are they photographing?’ And it literally hits you that it’s you,” she reveals.

“Just because you’re a beautiful person doesn’t mean life can’t happen,” Felker continued. “Life happens to a lot of these people, and we see that.”

The clip ended with a segment of Anderson declaring, “I’m really proud of everything I’ve done — almost.”

After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun premieres Wednesday, August 28 on Hulu.
