MSU Football is off to a historic start against Sacremento State

The Montana State University football team has a shot at history on Saturday when the No. 2 Bobcats (9-0, 5-0 in Big Sky) host Sacramento State (3-6, 1-4 in Big Sky).

A win at home against the Hornets could make this MSU squad the first 10-0 team in program history.

The Bobcats are also looking for their first win against Sacramento State since 2015. The Hornets spoiled MSU’s Homecoming on their last trip to Bobcat Stadium in 2019.

The Bobcats had a great start to the week with no new injuries or changes to the depth chart while adding to their depth with players still recovering from injuries.

After a close win in Eastern Washington, Montana State will look to bounce back against a struggling Sacramento State team.

The Hornets’ defense is giving up 41 points per game in Big Sky play and will look to slow down the conference’s top scoring, rushing and all-out offense in the Bobcats.

Although MSU gave up season highs in scoring, rushing yards and total yards last week in Cheney, the Bobcats will play their first game at Bobcat Stadium since Oct. 12 against Idaho.

At home, the MSU defense is allowing an average of 15.25 points per game. Of the 61 points scored by opponents at Bobcat Stadium so far this season, only seven came in the first half and against the starting defense.

Overall, turnovers will be key for Montana State as Sacramento State forces a lot of turnovers but also gives up the ball often.

The kick-off is at 1:00 PM
