Mt. HOOD, Ore. (KATU) — Mt. Hood Meadows is open this season! The resort’s president, Greg Pack, told KATU that 60 inches of fresh snow allowed them to open earlier than normal for the first time in 15 years.

“There was someone in line at about 6 a.m., right before the elevator didn’t open until 9 a.m., so three hours early,” Pack said of the excitement. “We close Monday Tuesday Wednesday and yesterday we decided to open seven days a week on Thursday.”

Pack advises if you’re heading up the mountain, make sure you know the conditions before getting in the car.

“Look online at our terms and conditions page and we’ll tell you exactly what’s going on here,” Pack said.

Check road conditions to make sure you’re right. The easiest thing you can do is buy your season pass or ticket online. This will save you a lot of time once you get here,” he says. Timberline is also open this season.
