Musk’s pro-Trump PAC continues to give away $1 million worth of voters despite reported DOJ warning

Topline

Elon Musk’s pro-Trump super PAC continued to give away a $1 million daily prize to registered voters in swing states who wanted to sign a petition on Thursday, despite reportedly being warned by the Justice Department that the prizes might violate federal law.

Key facts

The Musk-backed America PAC announced on X that it had given away $1 million on Thursday to a man from Wisconsin and another from Michigan.

The PAC’s X account announced a daily winner of the $1 million prize each day from Saturday through Tuesday, but no winner had been announced as of Wednesday.

It’s unclear whether either of the two winners announced Thursday were originally scheduled to receive their rewards Wednesday.

However, Wednesday’s announcement pause coincided with a report in which America PAC was warned by the DOJ that the plan could be illegal.

Musk, who has not commented on the alleged DOJ warning, also congratulated both winners on Thursday.
