Myles Garrett makes a statement in the Browns’ win over the Steelers

The three sacks that gave him 10 all came at key points in the first half.

His first came on the Steelers’ opening drive of the game. Wilson had led his offense to the Browns 32-yard line, facing third-and-3. Garrett brought down Wilson from behind for an eight-yard loss, and K Chris Boswell missed the next field goal as the Steelers remained scoreless.

His second sack of the game was accompanied by a forced fumble that led the Browns to a successful field goal attempt to build on their first half lead. His third came when the Steelers tried to score in the final minute of the first half, effectively ending the half after Wilson was brought down.

“He just knew this game. He knew we needed him. We needed the big guys, and he definitely came through,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said after the game.

While the Browns defense allowed the Steelers to score 13 points in the fourth quarter and regain the lead, their performance on third and fourth downs proved the difference in the game.

On their second drive, the Browns forced a turnover on downs after Garrett and S Grant Delpit brought down QB Justin Fields for a loss of 2 yards. On the Steelers’ first drive of the second half, DT Maurice Hurst II tackled RB Jaylen Warren for a 1-yard loss on fourth down, ending their drive.

“It was huge. It was monumental in the game. It kept them from extending drives on fourth-and-1, fourth-and-2,” Garrett said. “By getting those short fields for our offense and just chipping away and then scoring or continuing to create short fields and ultimately putting the ball in, I think that’s the win for us.”
