NBC’s Mike Tirico reveals he called ‘Sunday Night Football’ with a torn Achilles tendon

Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth were in the booth as usual for NBC’s broadcast of Sunday night football in Week 12 when the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Los Angeles Rams. However, Tirico could be seen wearing a medical boot on his left leg.

During the match, Tirico revealed that he had suffered an injury to his left Achilles tendon on Monday, but planned to continue playing matches until the end of the 2024 season.

“Tell America,” Collinsworth told Tirico.

“I tore my Achilles tendon. I’m fine,” Tirico said. “I’m going to keep going and get through the season.”

In the booth, Tirico could be seen resting his injured leg on a crate, not letting the usually season-ending injury affect his ability to call the primetime game. Impeccable dedication from the 57-year-old.

Tirico also has a busy schedule ahead of him. He’ll be back in the booth on Thanksgiving for the NBC broadcast of the Miami Dolphins-Green Bay Packers clash from Lambeau Field, where he’ll endure the pain while battling the frigid Wisconsin temperatures.
