Nearly 70 New York banks have closed recently, about 1,000 nationwide

Many popular banks with numerous branches in New York State have closed many locations in the Empire State.

More than 700 banks closed their doors in the first nine months of 2024.

Thousands are forced to travel further or find new banks. According to the Daily Mail, the United States is on track to close about a thousand banks this year.

In New York, 64 banks were closed as of October 1. The Empire State is on track to close 85 banks by 2024.

  • Bank of America: 132
  • US Bank: 101
  • Wells Fargo: 92
  • Pursuit: 90
  • TD bank: 52

PNC, Citizens Bank, Woodforest, Fulton and Capitol One also all closed branches this year.
