Nebraska State Fair celebrates Veterans Day on Monday

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – The Nebraska State Fair Veterans Day Committee is preparing for a Veterans Day celebration on Labor Day.

The event is part of the fair’s ongoing commitment to recognize and celebrate the sacrifices and contributions of veterans.

On Monday, all veterans and active military personnel will receive free admission to the state fair if they show their military ID at the gate.

A formal ceremony for the veterans will take place at the Heartland Event Center in Fonner Park beginning at 10 a.m. The ceremony will honor and celebrate Nebraska Veterans. The program will include a keynote address, choir performance and music by the Heartland of America Raptor Band.

At 12:00 noon, a brief history of the flags that have flown over the United States of America will be given at Earl May Fair Square.

The celebration continues with a patriotic parade beginning at 1:00 p.m. The parade will feature local veterans organizations and military vehicles. The parade route will wind through the fairgrounds, providing a perfect opportunity for everyone to show their support for these brave me and women.

Throughout the day, the fairgrounds will feature live music and entertainment. Performances will include a range of local talent and a special concert by USAF Heartland American Raptor Band.

Held at the Heartland Event Center, this event provides veterans and their families with access to valuable resources and information. Representatives from various organizations will be on hand to provide support and answer questions about veteran benefits, health care, employment and more. It begins at 9:30 a.m.
