Nebraska women’s cross country finished 11th and men finished 14th at the Big Ten Championships

SAVOY, Ill. – The Nebraska women fell out of the top 10 during the final day of the Big Ten Cross Country Championships, while the men finished second in the 15-team event.

The Huskers women were led by Ali Bainbridge, who ran a 19:46 in the 6,000-meter race on Friday, earning the sophomore All-Big Ten second team honors.

Bainbridge finished in 19th place, while Brynna McQuillen placed 38th as the second-place NU runner.

Nebraska was just six points behind host Illinois, which held the races at the Blue and Orange Golf Course.

Trevor Acton led the Husker men with a run of 24:05 on the final day to finish 70th. Freshman Rico Leijenaar finished 74th and became NU’s No. 2 runner.
