Netflix is experiencing a global outage that is causing titles to become unplayable and the video player to freeze on desktop computers when accessed through the Windows app or the web, regardless of browser. Playback on mobile devices and televisions is not affected.

Over the past hour, posts have appeared on social media platforms such as X and Reddit, with users reporting that they were unable to watch anything on Netflix. We’re also having issues with some titles playing, but without any controls or titles completely freezing. Down Detector also reports a spike in problems in the past hour.

The official Netflix status page states that Netflix is experiencing an issue with the confirmation: “You may be having trouble streaming titles on a computer. Try a different device or try again later.’

The news comes after Netflix had issues this weekend with Outdoor benches with audio glitches and/or no audio at all on some of the brand new episodes, although as far as we can tell that issue has been largely resolved. As a side note, we also wrote an article this morning about Netflix’s so-called Enshittifcation, where we talked about the fact that Netflix has lacked production and technical innovation in recent years and that the product is becoming noticeably worse.
