FOXBORO – After another tough loss to the New York Jets New England Patriots fans are hopeful on Thursday, but divided on what the team should do next.

“It’s pretty grim”

“It’s pretty gritty, yeah, that was tough,” Patriots fan Shawn Power said of the 24-3 loss to the Jets.

“I’m just not used to this. I’m used to always winning! Now it’s a little different,” said another fan.

While Patriots fans are not mincing their words, they are also not giving up hope. With a 1-2 start to the season, fans are admitting that reality is starting to sink in.

“We have to improve our offense,” said Patriots fan Harrison Soep.

“It’s an improvement over last year, they’re building for future games. But we still have, how many games are left in the season?” Patriots fan Steve Findlay said. “It’s a work in progress and that’s all you can really ask for.”

Should the Patriots start Drake Maye?

While some fans say it’s time to let Drake Maye in, others say it shouldn’t happen so soon.

“We need Drake Maye, that’s the takeaway from last night’s game,” said one Patriots fan.

“Oh Brissettabsolutely,” Power said. “You saw last night, Maye was shot for four minutes. That can break his confidence.”

“That’s the coach’s decision, it’s a tough one,” Patriots fan Eileen Tuttle said. “Because the new guy has to be there, but I think he needs a little more experience. So let’s see what happens.”

As for predictions for the rest of the season, one fan said that compared to last year, he’ll accept anything.

“We’ve had 20 good years, so I think it’s going to happen again,” Tuttle said.
