According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, a completely rebuilt Siri with Apple Intelligence could be rolling out to users sooner than we originally thought. It may not be the full experience, but we could see some features arrive sooner.

New Siri Release Date

In the newsletter, Gurman provided some additional details about the release timeline for Apple Intelligence features, including an interesting new detail. Some of the new Siri features may arrive in iOS 18.3, rather than the previously expected iOS 18.4.

The biggest update for iOS 18 after iOS 18.1 is iOS 18.4, which will include many of the new Siri features (some are being considered for iOS 18.3, I’m told).

This means we could potentially expect the revamped Siri experience as early as January, since iOS x.3 normally releases around that time, compared to sometime in March.

Future iOS 18 Releases

Gurman also provided some other details about the development timelines and release dates for other iOS 18-related releases:

• iOS 18.1 is expected to be finalized internally this week, with a mid-October release
• iOS 18.2 is expected to be completed internally in early November and released in December
• iOS 18.3 is expected to be completed internally by the end of this year and released in January
• iOS 18.4 is expected to be completed internally in early February and released in March

As a refresher, iOS 18.1 brings us our first wave of Apple Intelligence, including a gentle Siri refresh (new UI, faster responses), as well as Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, and Notification Summaries. After that, iOS 18.2 is expected to bring Image Playground, Genmoji, and ChatGPT integration. Finally, we should see the all-new Siri early next year.

Apple unveiled the all-new Siri at WWDC24 in June, and we’re expecting a number of major new features. Siri should be able to better understand speech errors, integrate with other apps, understand context, and see what’s currently on your screen. All of these features will potentially turn Siri into a true personal assistant.

It’s interesting that Apple is seemingly trying to speed up the release timeline for the all-new Siri. It seems like the company is aware that they’ve been marketing the new iPhone 16 lineup around features that are largely unavailable, and they want to get the new Siri into the hands of customers as quickly as possible.
