The Seattle Kraken host the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon. The Kraken, who are currently on a three-game winning streak, have achieved most of their victory on home ice. This team was average at the start of the year and is currently ranked sixth in the Pacific Division. However, they play a defensively stingy style of game that makes it difficult for opponents to score on them. It will be especially difficult for the Islanders, who average only 2.65 goals per game. In an era of hockey where goal scoring has generally increased, this isn’t very good. The Kraken don’t have superstar-caliber talent up front, but they have four solid lines that play a fast, physical style of game – making things difficult for the opposing team’s defense over the course of 60 minutes. The Islanders are still without their most dynamic offensive player in Mat Barzal. Without him in the line-up it was difficult to score goals. Their only strength is their defensive play and above-average goaltending. That will have to be fully visible to keep track of the Kraken. Ultimately, I don’t think it will be enough.
