NFL News, Injury Updates: Davante Adams Traded to Jets; Russell Wilson ‘under consideration’ to start for Steelers

After weeks of speculation, Davante Adams is heading to the New York Jets to reunite with his former QB Aaron Rodgers, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Jets are reportedly returning a conditional third-round pick who could become a second-round pick based on performance.

This trade comes less than 12 hours after the Jets suffered an ugly 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on “Monday Night Football.” It was the team’s first game since the firing of head coach Robert Saleh, and the presence of newly appointed interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, as well as new offensive signal caller Todd Downing, was not enough to keep the Jets from making costly mistakes .

Here’s a look at some of the other top stories in the NFL coming out of Week 6.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are headed for a change at quarterback. Veteran Russell Wilson, who signed with the Steelers in March, is finally healthy enough to take reps with the first team, and will reportedly do just that this week. That sets him up to make his Steelers debut this weekend when they take on the New York Jets.

The Lions’ pass-rushing specialist leads the NFL with a 6.5 grade point average but was carted off the field Sunday in Dallas with a reported broken tibia. He underwent surgery in Dallas and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Hutchinson had 11.5 sacks in 2023 and made his first Pro Bowl last season.

If you were to just look at the Dallas Cowboys’ road results this year, you would find a 3-0 team that, while it has some things to clean up, has been able to pick up a few close wins and even beat the 4 -2 Steelers at Pittsburgh. But the Cowboys have hardly been competitive at home, and for all but two quarters they have been completely trampled on home turf. The Cowboys have given up 119 points at home in three games this season (39.7 points per game).

After the worst home loss of the Jerry Jones era — coincidentally on his 82nd birthday — Jones said he is not considering a coaching change, even as questions about Mike McCarthy continue to swirl. The Cowboys are off in Week 7 and will play their next two games on the road.

The Las Vegas Raiders are trading All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Adams will have a very familiar face waiting for him when he arrives in New Jersey: Aaron Rodgers, who was Adams’ teammate for many years with the Green Bay Packers. With the Jets’ offense struggling, the hope is that reuniting Rodgers with one of his most successful partners on the field will help unlock all the success the team believes is just beyond their reach.

The trade ends a tenure of more than two seasons for Adams in Las Vegas.
